
When BBC America wanted to excite their existing Dr. Who fans and cultivate new ones, they turned to mad.house for our comprehensive services model.
The marketing team’s goal was to promote Season 6 of Doctor Who, BBC America’s biggest series. Inspired by the M.I.T. TARDIS stunt, the idea was sparked for a TARDIS contest building contest – a challenge to American universities and Doctor Who fans to create their own TARDIS with an even better prank: MIT Prank
The broadcast production included the scripting, casting, producing, and editing of two parody infomercials that would subtly, smartly, and humorously promote TARDIS building fun. The digital production included creating www.wheresthetardis.com, and rolling out www.twitter.com/wheresthetardis to amplify and engage the growing fan base.
On Christmas Day during Doctor Who: A Christmas Carol, the Where’s The TARDIS? contest promos aired, and the site went live, officially launching the contest. The initial response has been fantastic.
